The Russian Democratic Union (RDU) was a communist and nationalist political party in Russia that was active from 2002 to 2008. The party was founded by Dmitri Arbatov, who criticized Vladimir Putin's government for failing to restore the crumbling economy. The party held ultranationalist views, believing that the Russian government did not have the Russian people's best interests at heart, and that it weakened the Russian state by siding with the West philosophically and economically. The party dissolved in 2008.
