Ruslan Beloglazov

Ruslan Beloglazov (1883-1925) was a Bolshevik commissar who served in the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. Born in Lipetsk, Lipetsk Oblast, he served in the Imperial Russian Army on the Eastern Front of World War I before joining the Bolsheviks, and, in 1923, he was sentenced to death for stealing. Beloglazov fled to the United States on a ship bound for New York City, and he settled in the "New Petrograd" section of Edison, New Jersey. He worked at a local factory until his body was found in the Dismal Swamp; his White Russian neighbors were suspected of murdering him for his former Bolshevik allegiance, and Anton Serebryanin was arrested.
