
Rufus McIntire (19 December 1784-28 April 1866) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-ME 1) from 10 September 1827 to 2 July 1835, succeeding William Burleigh and preceding John Fairfield. Born in York, Maine, he served in the War of 1812, in the state house in 1820, in Congress, and as a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in 1837. He later served as a US Marshal in 1849 and as surveyor of customs in Portland from 1853 to 1857.
