Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore

The Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore is a street located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, France. Until the 18th century, the area was rural and contained a few mansions along a dirt road. When the Faubourg Saint-Honore became an official suburb of Paris, the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore acquired its name; it was incorporated into Paris' city limits in 1860. Denominated on 10 December 1847, the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore is now one of the most luxurious and fashionable streets in the world due to the presence of virtually every major global fashion house, the Elysee Palace (the official residence of the President), the Hotel de Pontalba (home to the United States Ambassador to France), the embassy of Canada, the embassy of the United Kingdom, and numerous art galleries.
