Rudolf II, Count Palatine of the Rhine

Rudolf II "the Blind", Count Palatine of the Rhine (8 August 1306-4 October 1353) was Count Palatine of the Rhine from 1329 to 1353, succeeding Ludwig and preceding Rupert I.

Biography[]

Rudolf von Wittelsbach was born in Wolfratshausen, Bavaria, Holy Roman Empire on 8 August 1306, the son of Duke Rudolf I of Bavaria and the nephew of Emperor Louis IV of Germany. During his childhood, his father and uncle fought over their inheritance, and, in 1323, Rudolf inherited Bavaria when his uncle made peace with him and his brothers. In 1329, he became Count Palatine of the Rhine, and he died in 1353.
