Royal Netherlands Army

The Royal Netherlands Army is the army of the Netherlands, founded on 9 January 1814. The Royal Army's origins date back to 1572, when the Dutch States Army was created during the Dutch Revolt against Spain, and it has one of the oldest standing armies in the world. The army fought in the Napoleonic Wars, World War II, the Indonesian National Revolution, the Korean War, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War, in addition to several colonial conflicts in the East Indies and elsewhere. In 2014, the Royal Netherlands Army began cooperation with the Bundeswehr of Germany, and 2 of 3 Dutch brigades were under German command as of 2017, with the Dutch 43rd Mechanized Brigade being scheduled to be integrated into the 1st Panzer Division by 2019.
