
Ross T. Dwyer (20 July 1919 – 8 October 2001) was a Major-General of the US Marine Corps during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Biography[]
Ross T. Dwyer was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on 20 July 1919. While at Stanford University, he joined the US Marine Corps reserve in 1941 and became a 2nd Lieutenant. During World War II, he took part in four major naval campaigns in both the European and Asian wars. After the war, he returned to Hawaii and became the commanding officer of the marine barracks in Kaneohe Bay. During the Korean War, he aided in the training of South Korea's marine forces. In late December 1968 and early 1969 he took part in Operation Taylor Common during the Vietnam War and he returned to the United States in late June 1969. He retired in 1974 at the age of 55 and died on 8 October 2001 in Riverside, California at the age of 82.
