Ron Conrad was a Detective Inspector of the Newcastle upon Tyne police force during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1970, he began an investigation into the former Labour Party politician Austin Donohue's illicit business ties to the construction magnate John Edwards, ultimately resulting in Donohue's arrest in 1974.
