The Romanians are an ethnic group native to Romania in the Balkans. Descended from the Dacians and the Vlachs, the Romanians speak the Romanian language, which has a Latin origin. Of the 24,000,000 Romanians spread across the world, 16,792,868 live in Romania, 1,131,839 in Italy, 752,268 in Spain, 452,718 in Germany, 459,810 in the United States, and 205,600 in Israel (the Romanian Jews). Most Romanians adhere to Orthodox Christianity, but Catholicism and Protestantism are minor faiths in the country.
