The Romanian 3rd Army was a field army of Romania that existed from the 19th century into the 1990s, one of the longest-lasting Romanian military formations. The army fought against Austria-Hungary in Transylvania during World War I, and it would join the German Army Group B during World War II. The army took part in Operation Barbarossa and the invasion of the Caucasus, and it was destroyed during the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942-43. The army would later take part in the war with Nazi Germany as an ally of the Soviet Union after 1944, ending the war in Czechoslovakia after the Prague Offensive. The army was disbanded in the 1990s.
