Roman de Medici (born 1516) was a Florentine nobleman and the cousin of Queen Catherine de Medici.
Biography[]
Roman de Medici was born in Florence in 1516, the cousin of Cortenza de Medici and the cousin of Catherine de Medici. He became a wealthy merchant, and, in 1558, he and Cortenza came to the court of King Henry II of France to ask for the return of Cortenza's retinue, which she had loaned to Catherine. However, Cortenza was murdered during her stay in Paris, and Roman discovered that his cousin's death was due to her large debts.
