Roger de Moulin

Roger de Moulins (1138-1187) was the Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller from 1177 to 1187, succeeding Jobert of Syria and preceding Armengol de Aspa.

Biography[]

Roger de Moulins was the Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller from 1177 onwards, and Pope Alexander III helped him in solving the feud with the rival Templar Order. He established chapters in England, Germany, and France and in 1185 helped the Normans take Thessalonica from the Byzantine Empire during his tour of Europe. In 1187 he was killed in the Battle of Cresson by a lance wound to the chest while fighting Saladin.
