Rodrigo Vinas office

Rodrigo Vinas was General Coordinator of Mexican Navy Operations during the 2000s. In 2012, he was kidnapped by Sinaloa Cartel henchmen at his son's swimming practice and taken to meet El Chapo, who offered him $25,000,000 in exchange for information on the Navy's operations before they could take place. Vinas reluctantly agreed, and he was given a suitcase with $10 million and a piece of paper giving him a number to contact when the Navy made its next move. His first whistleblowing occurred when he warned "Fausto" that the "fishermen" were going to "fish" in Navolato an hour later. However, he did so under the supervision of his American DEA colleagues, who planned to tail Fausto to El Chapo.
