Rodolfo "El Niño de Oro" Carrillo Fuentes (died 11 September 2004) was the younger brother of Juarez Cartel leader Amado Carrillo Fuentes. In 2004, Carrillo Fuentes and his wife were killed by Sinaloa Cartel gunmen as they left a Culiacan, Sinaloa cinema complex.
Biography[]
Rodolfo Carrillo Fuentes was the younger brother of Amado Carrillo Fuentes and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, and he was nicknamed "El Niño de Oro", meaning "the Golden Boy". After the death of Amado and Vicente's takeover of the cartel, Vicente promoted Rodolfo to become the man in charge of negotiating with other cartels. Rodolfo was hostile towards El Chapo, the boss of the Sinaloa Cartel, and he opposed his idea of leading a federation of drug cartels in Mexico. In 2003, he assisted him with his attempted takedown of the Gulf Cartel, but the 2003 Nuevo León raids failed, and Rodolfillo angrily stormed out of a meeting with El Chapo after insulting his soldiers and his plans for a federation. Later that night, he shot El Chapo's mercenary soldier "El Jaguar" in a bar restroom after "apologizing" for insulting him, and he told his dead body that he would pay for his boss.
Death[]
Rodolfillo Carrillo Fuentes' murder of El Jaguar led to El Chapo and El Jaguar's former commander, El Uno, seeking vengeance for his death. On 11 September 2004, Carrillo Fuentes headed to a cinema complex where his wife was taking their little daughter, and he forced them to leave the movie early, as he had warned them to stay away from a public place such as the complex. As they entered the parking lot, they were ambushed by El Uno and his mercenaries from all sides. Rodofillo and his wife were both shot dead by the gunmen, who proceeded to flee, leaving his young daughter to gaze upon the bodies of her parents.
