Rock Braziliano (1630-1671) was a Dutch pirate who operated off the coast of Brazil. He was known for his barbarity towards the Spanish.
Biography[]
Born in Groningen in the Netherlands, he became a privateer based in Bahia, Brazil, for the United Provinces. In 1654 he moved to Port Royal, Jamaica, and became a buccaneer. He captured a Spanish ship of high value but was later captured and sent to Spain; he escaped prison due threats of vengeance against the Spanish from his followers. He sailed in the company of English privateer Henry Morgan later on, and one time burnt two skewered Spanish farmers over a campfire when they refused to hand over their pigs to the Pirates. In 1671, he disappeared, possibly dying in a storm.
