Robert des Joyes (died 1191) was a member of the Knights Templar in Damascus.

Biography[]

Robert des Joyes was a knight of the Knights Templar organization during the Third Crusade, and he was sent to the city of Damascus to work under the command of Abu'l Nuqoud, the merchant king. Robert stood guard outside of the palace of Nuqoud, just next to the wall.

Death[]

Joyes encountered Assassins apprentice Altair Ibn-La'Ahad when the latter was heading to the palace to slay Nuqoud. Robert attacked him and initially fought well, but a counterattack by Altair slashed his chest and then his back. He was the seventh of 60 Templars to be killed by Altair.
