
Robert de La Marck (1468-) was a nobleman and general of the Kingdom of France during the Italian Wars.
Biography[]
Robert de La Marck was born in 1468, and he became a prominent member of the French nobility. Prior to 1493, he was entrusted with the governorship of Marseille, and he was given a command by King Charles VIII of France in preparation for his Italian campaigns. In 1494, he conquered Nice from rebellious Provencal nobles, and he prepared an army to conquer Noli on the Italian coast, using the French Navy to transport his forces into a viable position from which they could seize the city-state.
