Robert Safford Hale (24 September 1822-14 December 1881) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 16) from 3 December 1865 to 3 March 1867 (succeeding Orange Ferriss and preceding Orlando Kellogg) and from NY-17 from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1875 (succeeding William A. Wheeler and preceding Martin I. Townsend).

Biography[]

Robert Safford Hale was born in Chelsea, Vermont in 1822, and he became a lawyer in Elizabethtown, New York in 1847. He served as Essex County judge from 1856 to 1864, in the US House of Representatives from 1865 to 1867 and from 1873 to 1875, and as a state surveyor from 1876 until his death in 1881.
