
Robert Rutherford (20 October 1728 – 10 October 1803) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-VA 1) from 4 March 1793 to 3 March 1797, succeeding Alexander White and preceding Daniel Morgan.
Biography[]
Robert Rutherford was born in Scotland in 1728, but his family emigrated to the Thirteen Colonies while he was an infant, settling in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia. He became the first congressman to live west of the Blue Ridge Mountains, serving in the US House of Representatives from 1793 to 1797. He died in 1803.
