
Robert Montgomery (21 May 1904-27 September 1981) was an American actor, director, and producer from Beacon, Dutchess County, New York. He began his acting career in New York City during the 1920s before moving to Hollywood in 1929, becoming an MGM star. He was active in Republican politics due to his concerns about communist involvement in the film industry, cooperating with HUAC and endorsing Richard Nixon for President in 1960. He died in Manhattan in 1981.
