McMahon and Manri's bodies in the garbage truck
Robert McMahon worked as the Air France night shift supervisor at the JFK International Airport in Queens, New York City, and he became an associate of the Lucchese crime family. In 1967, he assisted Henry Hill in the planning of the Air France robbery; he was a valuable asset to the family, as he was in charge of all security at the airport at night. McMahon also helped Joe Manri with plotting the Lufthansa heist of 1978. The two of them repeatedly refused to join the Witness Protection Program, but Jimmy Conway sought to have all the heist associates murdered to prevent any of them from turning states. On 16 May 1979, McMahon and Manri's bodies were found by two garbage men as they poured trash into their garbage truck.
