Robert McDougle of Achnasaul (1667-1729) was a Scottish Jacobite who participated in the Jacobite rising of 1689. Born in Inverness-shire, the son of Hamish McDougle of Achnasaul, he followed in his late father's footsteps as a soldier of the Crown and remained loyal to King James VII after the Glorious Revolution. McDougle fought at the Battle of Killecrankie, the Battle of Dunkeld, and other engagements before returning home in defeat. After his son John McDougle of Achnasaul was killed at the Battle of Sheriffmuir, he took in his grandson Finbar as his ward and raised him to hate the House of Hanover. He died in 1729.
