
Robert Milledge Charlton (19 January 1807 – 18 January 1854) was a US Senator from Georgia (D) from 21 May 1852 to 4 March 1853, succeeding John M. Berrien and preceding Robert Toombs.
Biography[]
Robert Milledge Charlton was born in Savannah, Georgia, and he worked as a lawyer before serving in the state legislature, as a judge, and as a US district attorney. In 1852, he was appointed to the US Senate to fill John M. Berrien's vacant seat, serving until 1853. He died in 1854.
