Robert Donald Blue (24 September 1898-14 December 1989) was the Republican Governor of Iowa from 11 January 1945 to 13 January 1949, succeeding Bourke B. Hickenlooper and preceding William S. Beardsley.

Biography[]

Robert Donald Blue was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1898, and he served in the US Army during World War I before serving as Wright County attorney from 1924 to 1931, as city attorney of Eagle Grove from 1932 to 1934, in the state house from 1935 to 1943, as Lieutenant Governor from 1943 to 1945, and as Governor from 1945 to 1949. He was unpopular among labor unions, farmers, and teachers, and he lost renomination in 1948. He died in 1989.
