
Robert Brackenbury (died 22 August 1485) was Constable of the Tower of London during the reign of Richard III of England.
Biography[]
Robert Brackenbury was born into a prominent family from County Durham, England, and he became one of Richard III of England's close associates. He served as treasurer of Richard's household when he was Duke of Gloucester, and he was appointed Constable of the Tower of London after Richard became king. In 1484, he was appointed Sheriff of Kent. Brackenbury is supposed to have murdered the Princes in the Tower on the orders of King Richard, and he remained loyal to Richard until the end. He was killed fighting beside the King at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.
