Robert guard captain

Robert (died 1557) was the captain of Queen Catherine de Medici's guard during the mid-16th century. A secret heretic, Robert placed a severed stag's head in Mary, Queen of Scots' room in 1557 to warn her that she was the heretic cult's next target. He was later suspected of being a heretic after a maid told Catherine that she had seen a guard with a bloodied outfit carrying the head; Catherine deduced that Robert was a heretic, as he was wearing an outfit apart from his single uniform, which he had changed out of. Robert was captured by the other guards, and, alongside Sarah, he was burned at the stake for heresy.
