Biography[]
Robert J. Menendez was born in 1986, the son of US Senator Bob Menendez. Menendez practiced law before, on 15 April 2021, Governor Phil Murphy appointed Menendez as Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In 2022, Menendez ran for the US House of Representatives to succeed the retiring congressman Albio Sires as the representative for his father's old seat in the US Congress (including heavily urban parts of Hudson, Essex, and Union Counties). Sires enthusiastically endorsed Menendez, a moderate Cuban-American whom he believed would connect well with his constituents.
