Richard Williams

Richard Williams (15 November 1836-19 June 1914) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-OR AL) from 4 March 1877 to 3 March 1879, succeeding Lafayette Lane and preceding John Whiteaker.

Biography[]

Richard Williams was born in Findlay, Ohio in 1836, and he moved to Oregon in 1851 and settled in Milwaukie and Salem, where he became a lawyer. He moved to San Francisco in 1857 before returning to Oregon and settling in Kerbyville, Corvallis, and Salem, and he finally moved to Portland in 1872. He served in the US House of Representatives from 1877 to 1879, and he later served on the Portland School Board for 20 years. He died in 1914.
