Richard Henry Whiting (17 January 1826-24 May 1888) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IL 9) from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1877, succeeding Granville Barrere and preceding Thomas A. Boyd.

Biography[]

Richard Henry Whiting was born in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1826, and he moved to Altona, Illinois in 1850 and thence to Galesburg in 1860. He served as a Union Army paymaster during the American Civil War, served as an internal revenue assessor from 1870 to 1873, as a revenue collector in Peoria from 1873 to 1875, in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1877, and as a delegate to the 1884 Republican National Convention. He died in 1888.
