Richard Franchot

Richard Hansen Franchot (2 June 1816-23 November 1875) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NY 19) from 4 March 1861 to 3 March 1863, succeeding James H. Graham and preceding Samuel F. Miller.

Biography[]

Richard Hansen Franchot was born in Morris, Otsego County, New York in 1816, and he was a railroad president before entering politics as a Republican. He served in the US House of Representatives from 1861 to 1863 and served as a Union Army Brigadier-General during the American Civil War, and he died in Schenectady in 1875.
