Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands of Greece, located northeast of Crete, southeast of Athens, and just off the Anatolian coast of Turkey. Rhodes is famed worldwide for its Colossus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Rhodes was also once home to the Knights Hospitaller, a crusader order that was based on the island until the Ottoman Empire conquered it in 1522. In 2011, Rhodes had a population of 115,490 people.
