The Revolutionary Left Movement of Chile (MIR) is a communist political party in Chile, founded on 15 August 1965 by Miguel Enriquez. The MIR had 10,000 members and associates at its height in 1973, when Augusto Pinochet and the military overthrew Salvador Allende's regime; the MIR had support from labor unions and shanty town dwellers from the major cities. In 1974, the DINA assassinated Enriquez, and the MIR carried out a campaign of terrorism against the Chilean regime. By 1990, 2,000 MIR members had been killed by the government. The movement was resurrected as a political party after the downfall of Pinochet, and the party joined the Juntos Podemos Mas coalition.
