The Revive China Society, also known as the Xingzhonghui, was a secret Chinese nationalist political fraternity which was active from 1894 to 1905. It was founded by Sun Yat-sen to "expel the Tatar barbarians (Manchus), revive China, and establish a unified government". It was founded in exile from Honolulu, Hawaii, and it launched a failed uprising in Guangzhou in October 1895. The British colonial government in Hong Kong was forced to crack down on the Revive China Society, forcing Sun and the Revive China Society to flee to Japan from 1896 to 1899. In 1905, it merged into the Tongmenghui, which later became the Kuomintang.
