Rene Ramos Latour

Rene Ramos Latour (12 May 1932-30 July 1958) was a 26th of July Movement commander during the Cuban Revolution.

Biography[]

Rene Ramos Latour was born in Antilla, Cuba in 1932, and his family later moved to Santiago de Cuba. He worked for the American Nicaro Nickel Processing Company before the Cuban Revolution, and he joined the 26th of July Movement under Fidel Castro. He commanded M-26-7 forces in northeastern Cuba, and he took over Frank Pais' command following Pais' death. On 30 July 1958, he was killed in action at Santa Clara.
