Redwing (1733-) was the chief of the Plains Nations from 1783 until his death. Interested in Europeans, he was able to establish friendly relations with Great Britain as well as other Indian tribes, while fighting against Spain. In 1784 he captured Fort de Chartres in Upper Louisiana, and fought a long war against the Spanish settlers and other European invaders.
