Redwalda

Redwalda (died 876) was an Order of the Ancients zealot from Mercia. His father was a wealthy lord, and Redwalda later murdered him in his bed for pleasure. He went on to become a monk in Tamworth, serving Saint Chad, but he later decided to take a path of "violent honor" with the Order. Redwalda came to hold the title of Dire-Scop, and he was sent to hunt down the Norwegian Viking warrior Eivor in 873 AD. In 876, Eivor ambushed him at the ruins of Venonis and killed him after a short duel, and, in his last words, Redwalda lamented how he had chosen violence over his peaceful life as a monk, and asked for God's forgiveness.
