Reda Mahmoud Hafez Mohamed

Reda Mahmoud Hafez Mohamed (3 March 1952 – 3 December 2013) was Commander of the Egyptian Air Force from 20 March 2008 to 14 August 2012, succeeding Magdy Galal Sharawi and preceding Younes Hamed.

Biography[]

Reda Mahmoud Hafez Mohamed was born in Egypt in 1952, and he graduated from the Egyptian Air Academy in 1972 before serving in the Egyptian Air Force during the Yom Kippur War. He served as Chief of Staff of the EAF from 2007 to 2008 and as its commander from 2008 to 2012, overflying protesters in Tahrir Square during the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, but making no attempt to attack the demonstrators. He went on to serve on the SCAF military junta after the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak.
