The Red Gecko Tong was a Chinese triad criminal organization, founded in Hong Kong and based in San Francisco during the 1990s. While the Mountain Cloud Boys was the most prominent of the San Francisco Triads, Mountain Cloud Boys leader Wu Zi Mu answered to Red Gecko Tong leader Ran Fa Li. In 1992, the Triads went to war with the city's Vietnamese street gangs, such as the Da Nang Boys, who besieged Ran Fa Li and Wu Zi Mu at their Chinatown betting shop. Wu Zi Mu's associate Carl Johnson agreed to serve as a decoy to allow for Ran Fa Li to escape from the building, enabling him to continue the fight against the Da Nang Boys.
