The Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA) is an Irish republican paramilitary organization that was founded in 1997 by dissidents from the Provisional IRA who rejected the Good Friday Agreement ceasefire with the United Kingdom. The Real IRA continued a campaign of terrorism after 1997, including the 1998 Omagh bombing, which was the deadliest attack of The Troubles. By 2012, it had 300 members, and the RIRA became known as the "New IRA" after merging with other Irish republican factions.
