Ray Canucci was a senior United States Department of State official under President Barack Obama. In a 2009 meeting with Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke, and General Stanley McChrystal, he told McChrystal about the administration's hopes for the contents of McChrystal's assessment of the Afghanistan War, warning him, "But, whatever you do, please do not ask the president for more troops."
