Raul Ruiz
Raul Ruiz (born 25 August 1972) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-CA 36) from 3 January 2013, succeeding Janice Hahn.


Raul Ruiz was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972, and he was raised in Coachella, California by his family, who worked as farmworkers. In 1997, he was arrested during a Thanksgiving protest in Plymouth, Massachusetts while studying medicine at Harvard. He became an emergency physician upon graduation, and he headed a nonprofit health initiative in California before being elected to the US House of Representatives in 2012.
