Raquel Willis (1990-) is an American LGBT progressive activist from Georgia. In 2019, she participated in a political debate hosted by Vice News, during which she expressed her disappointment about how conservative white men often accused the left of "identity politics", even though the right moved through the world with their lense of the privileged white man. This statement caused the conservative Brandon Straka to accuse her of speaking of white men with spite, but she responded that she didn't have Straka's privileges as a white man. In 2023, she cofounded the Gender Liberation Movement cooperative, and, after Republican president Donald Trump was inaugurated for a second time on 20 January 2025, Willis criticized his usage of the phrase "Liberation Day" to refer to his takeover, arguing that he was appropriating a term that belonged to marginalized communities.
