Raphael of Makuria (950-1006) was the King of Makuria from 1002 to 1006, succeeding Georgios II of Makuria.
Biography[]
Raphael was born in 950 to the House of Azim, a Christian dynasty of Nubians. Raphael ruled over the Kingdom of Makuria, and he was the son of King Georgios II of Makuria brother of the future High Chief Dauid III of Alodia. Raphael succeeded his father upon his death in 1002, but he reigned for only four years before dying at the age of 56.
