Ransom H. Gillet

Ransom Hooker Gillet (27 January 1800-24 October 1876) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 14) from 4 March 1833 to 3 March 1837, succeeding Samuel Beardsley and preceding James B. Spencer. Born in New Lebanon, he practiced law in Ogdensburg before serving in Congress, as Register of the United States Treasury from 1845 to 1847, as Solicitor of the Treasury from 1847 to 1849, as Assistant US Attorney General from 1855 to 1858, and as Solicitor of the US Court of Claims from 1858 to 1861.
