He was one of the commanders of the Egyptian-Roman fleet at the Battle of Actium in 31 BC, and he replaced Rufio as commander of a fleet section after Rufio argued with Mark Antony over the battle plan. The fleet was decisively defeated in the battle, and Antony abandoned Ramos' ship when he saw Cleopatra's ship fleeing the battlefield.
