
Ramon Barros Luco (9 June 1835-20 September 1919) was President of Chile from 23 December 1910 to 23 December 1915, succeeding Emiliano Figueroa and preceding Juan Luis Sanfuentes. He was a member of the Liberal Party of Chile.
Biography[]
Ramon Barros Luco was born in Santiago, Chile on 9 June 1835, and he became a lawyer in 1858. He was elected as a Liberal Party of Chile deputy in 1861, and he served as Senator for Linares from 1900 to 1906. In 1910, he was elected President with the support of both the Liberals and the National Party of Chile, seeking closer relations with Argentina and Brazil and adopting a policy of neutrality during World War I. He left office in 1915 and died in 1919.
