The Rajang Temple shootout occurred in 2010 when the Panauan Army assaulted the CIA agent and White Tiger rebel group leader Tom Sheldon's hideout at the Rajang Temple in the jungles of Panau.
Sheldon was assigned to Panau shortly before the start of the Panauan Civil War, but, as the dictator Pandak Panay suddenly turned against the United States and tore up his country's alliance treaty with the US, Sheldon severed contact with the Agency and went undercover as the leader of the White Tiger rebel group. In response, the CIA dispatched Rico Rodriguez to Panau to track down Sheldon and eliminate him if he turned out to be a traitor. Sheldon, posing as the arms dealer "Sloth Demon," contacted Rodriguez and led him to his associate Ken Pang, who agreed to take Rodriguez to meet the "White Tiger," Sheldon's other alias. Along the way, they were ambushed by the Panauan Army at a container ship previously used as a hideout by Sheldon, but they killed Colonel Suparman Iwan Setiabudi and made their way to a beacon left by Sheldon at the Rajang Temple.
There, Sheldon ambushed and tranquilized Rodriguez with a dart before taking him to his hideout. Sheldon and Rodriguez had a confused, but ultimately pleasant reunion before the arrival of Panauan soldiers interrupted their rendezvous. Taking control of a minigun, Rodriguez helped a shotgun-wielding Sheldon mow down dozens of Panauan soldiers until they were fully eliminated. Sheldon then realized Rodriguez that Agency asset Karl Blaine had been flipped by Pandak Panay's forces, as he had bugged Rodriguez's PDA with a tracker that led the military to Sheldon. Sheldon ordered Rodriguez to create enough chaos to draw out the international conspirators who had fueled the crisis in Panau and force Panay to show his hand.
