The Raid on Azamo Bay occurred in 1274 when the Japanese samurai Jin Sakai infiltrated the Mongol outpost of Azamo Bay and rescued the captive blacksmith Taka at the behest of Taka's sister Yuna.
Following his failed attempt to rescue his uncle, Lord Shimura, from Castle Kaneda, Jin Sakai forged a partnership with Yuna, promising to find and rescue her missing brother from the Mongols in exchange for her help with rescuing Shimura. Yuna introduced Jin to the sake brewer Kenji, an old acquaintance of hers, who reluctantly agreed to smuggle Jin into the Mongol fortress at Azamo Bay. As Kenji had regularly supplied the Mongols with sake in exchange for his life, he snuck Jin into one of the sake barrels, and the Mongols neglected to inspect their usual delivery. This enabled Jin to follow the slaver Doda Nekun to the forge, where Doda planned to punish Taka for the poor quality of his work. However, Yuna intervened and killed Doda before he could do so, and Yuna, Jin, and Taka escaped the fort as the Mongols discovered Doda's body and searched for his killers. Jin slew a few Mongol soldiers at the exit gate before avoiding Mongol patrols in the forest, and the Japanese escaped overnight and made their way to Archer's Rise to scope out Komatsu Forge.
