
Raheem Kassam (born 1 August 1986) is a UK Independence Party politician and editor-in-chief to Breitbart News London, a conservative media outlet.
Biography[]
Raheem Kassam was born on 1 August 1986 in Hammersmith, London, United Kingdom to a family of Shia Gujarati immigrants from Tanzania. He studied politics at the University of Westminster, and he idolized UK Conservative Party politicians Michael Gove and Margaret Thatcher and US Republican Party politician Barry Goldwater, admiring the free market system of the United States. Kassam joined the "Tories" and became the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News London, the London-based branch of the American conservative Breitbart News agency. In 2013, he switched his allegiance from the Conservatives to the UK Independence Party, and he became a leader of the party. He pledged to increase the party's membership to 100,000 people, and he admired Donald Trump, believing that he would be a great American president; Kassam's own motto was "Make UKIP great again".
