Ragnall Mac Gilla Muire

Ragnall Mac Gilla Muire (1133-), also known as Reginald McGilmore, was Earl of Vedrafjordr from 1155, succeeding Imar Mac Gilla Muire.

Biography[]

Ragnall Mac Gilla Muire was born in 1133, the son of Earl Imar Mac Gilla Muire of Vedrafjordr (Waterford, Ireland). He led the Waterfordian resistance to the Norman invasion of Ireland, but the city fell to the English in 1170 and Ragnall Mac Gilla Muire was spared by Dermot MacMurrough; the other inhabitants of the city and its nobles were slaughtered.
